This Halloween our local area is especially busy with spooky events for children!
Along with the brilliant spooky Halloween parties on Horfield Common and St Andrews Park on the evening of Tuesday 31st October, this year Horfield Baptist Church is holding an alternative event to Halloween for local children and families.
Sarah Phillpott, Pastor of Horfield Baptist Church explains:
“Now that the evenings are truly drawing in and our youngest children are experiencing darkness after a couple of months when even the earliest risers and the most reluctant to go to bed have lived entirely in the light, thoughts will turn inevitably to Halloween and the celebration of all things dark and spooky!
“At Horfield Baptist Church, we don’t believe that the darkness is something to celebrate, indeed we like to celebrate quite the opposite.”
And so, on Halloween evening the church has organised a Light Beacon event for local children and their families to enjoy.
Here, children and families can come to get a free drink of hot chocolate, have a rest and a chat, plus top up that all-important goody bag!
Children and families can come along to the Light Beacon event either as an alternative event to Halloween or as an additional event to trick-or-treating or the Halloween parties taking place elsewhere that evening.
The Light Beacon will take place at the back of the church on Brynland Avenue from 5 – 7.30pm. There will be a covered-up area in case of bad weather offering kids both a safe and dry destination.
Sarah explains further:
“If like us, you believe that the best and safest way of going trick-or-treating is to plan a route and pre-warn friends and neighbours rather than sending your children to strangers, why not put the Horfield Light Beacon on your list as a place to stop. We look forward to seeing you and your children!”
