Today’s review of Piglets Carers and Toddler Group is kindly shared by local parent Kate Salisbury.
Whilst watching my children play at Piglets playgroup recently, I realised that I had been going to the playgroup for over 3 years with various children.
It didn’t surprise me though. There are so many things that keep me going.
Over the last 3 years, I have had the chance to meet some fantastic local mums, dads, grandparents, nannies and childminders but the one person who has kept the group going is the lovely Elaine. She gives up her time to organise the toys, read stories, provide musical instruments, sing songs and provide refreshments.
As you walk in, the first thing that you’ll notice is the bright and airy space in B & A Church. There is a baby area, a climbing area, a book corner, various role play opportunities and small world toys. My son is now 4 but still enjoys playing with the castles and knights or riding on one of the many ride-on cars and bikes.
It is a really friendly, relaxed group. Local dad Richie is not put off by being the only regular dad. He likes the fact that there is enough space for his son to run around without getting in the way of other children.
Refreshments for children and adults are provided at 10.15am – squash or water and digestives for the children; tea or coffee and biscuits for the adults. Every now and then a cake sale is held in aid of Friends of Tread which is very hard to resist.
At 11am, children are encouraged to tidy away the toys ready for story and singing time. All the children sit down for a short story followed by lots of singing with musical instruments. You’ll be able to join in straightaway with old favourites such as The Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle, Twinkle and Row Row your boat. It sounds like chaos but is a lovely end to a great group.
The group runs from 9.45-11.15am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time and is for 0-4 year olds. Once your name is on the list, it is a drop in group. It is just £2 per family so well worth a visit.
Why not come along and join us? Elaine Dart 07805 743459 can provide further information.
