W.G. Stutt & Son: The Bristol Butcher’s closes after 85 years on Gloucester Road

One of the greatest things about living in and near Bishopston is its strong sense of community.

Such community spirit is clear in the many kind messages of support left by locals in response to the closure notice on W.G. Stutt & Son, the family Butchers situated on 226 Gloucester Road which recently closed after an incredible 85 years of being on the high street.

The closure notice, taped onto the shop front of Stutt & Son reads:

“Due to my father’s illness I have been forced to close W. Stutt & Son with immediate effect. Heartfelt thanks for the support of all our regular customers who have supported us over the many years. Best wishes, Martyn Stutt.”

Messages of support include: “Very sad to hear this – good wishes to the family. From two appreciative customers, we will miss you”, “Hope your father gets better soon, I shall miss both. Get well soon” and “Hope your lovely dad gets well soon xxx”

It is not yet known if the closure of W.G. Stutt & Son is permanent. My family and I send the Stutt family our very best wishes.
