If you have a 0-3 year old then you may be interested to hear about Bart’s Babes, a drop-in playgroup held at St Barts Church Hall on Maurice Road, St Andrew’s.
Bart’s Babes is held on Fridays from 10 – 11.30am in term-time and is aimed at babies through to pre-schoolers to the end of the term in which they turn three.
There is a small entry fee of £1.50 per child.
A firm emphasis of Bart’s Babes is imaginative play and to this end there are plenty of jigsaws, a homemade play dough table, building blocks and many other toys.
The cosy baby area is full of plenty of toys and is good place to enjoy a hot drink and a biscuit while the babies play.
There is also a good selection of books for babies and young children with comfy beanbags to sit enjoy them on.
The bigger kids flock to the bikes and ride on toys and there is lots of space for them to zoom around.
Another firm favourite is the home corner which has a fully equipped toy kitchen, plenty of dolls and other role play toys which will inspire the imaginations of toddlers and pre-schoolers alike.
The ever popular singing and rhymes takes place at 10.40am and at 11.20am everyone joins in with tidy up time.
Well known for its friendly DBS checked volunteers, there is always someone on hand to help parents and carers out and to give the new babies a cuddle. Although Bart’s Babes is held in a church hall there is no bias towards any religion and all are welcomed.
Bart’s Babes aims to provide learning opportunities for the children to play together and to share and the range of toys and activities on offer fully supports this.
This playgroup has a friendly vibe and is a great way to spend a morning for babies, toddlers and their parents and carers.
