Fairfield High School (FHS) in Horfield has been ‘Highly Commended’ in the National Happiest Secondary School category, as part of Laughology’s National Happiness Awards.

The honour is a culmination, and recognition, of the school’s pioneering work and dedication to all within its community.

This is evident the moment somebody steps into the school’s Atrium and is welcomed by over 40 flags which represent every country of a child who is currently or has previously attended the school.

A recent Ofsted inspection stated “you have established a very harmonious and inclusive school. You serve a rich and culturally diverse population. Pupils respect and value the knowledge they gain from this.”

In addition to this visual holistic approach, FHS has many professionals who come in to support student and staff physical and mental wellbeing, ranging from dance therapy, CBT sessions for students to art therapy sessions with outside agencies.

Before Year 11 exams, students are given a range of coping strategies including meditation, yoga and relaxation techniques.
