Now that summer is here, the children at Horfield Welly Pre-school are enjoying getting outside and back to nature!
As well as the amazing Ofsted-rated “Outstanding” provision inside the building, Horfield Welly has some great facilities for outside discovery and fun learning experiences.
The pre-school has a beautiful Welly garden for the children to enjoy, with play equipment and natural forest school resources.
The children have free-flow access to the garden at all times so that they can play and learn independently, whatever the weather.

The children also have outdoor group sessions with their key worker, plus with the pre-school’s amazing qualified Forest School leader regularly throughout the year.
And, as well as having access to the larger garden, the 2 and 3 year olds – known as “Little Wellies” – have their own garden for calm play and discovery!
There are exciting plans for all of the Wellies throughout the summer term; this includes trips with staff to the Ardagh and Horfield Common so that the Horfield Welly Forest School leader can enrich their learning even further. These adventures will provide a welcome chance to explore the outdoors even more after the recent period of lockdown.
There are exciting plans later on in the year and next year too; this includes expanding their forest school provision even further, linking up with local schools and settings, plus investing in new resources to enhance their outdoor spaces even more.
If you have a child approaching pre-school age; there are currently a few places for an immediate or September 2021 start; please visit the Horfield Welly website to find out more about what this pre-school can offer and also take a virtual tour!
You can also email horfieldwellypreschool@gmail.com if you would like a chat with one of the Welly staff; they will be pleased to hear from you!
