Today on Bishopston Mum, I am writing about the new playgroup in town! The Emmanuel Toddler Group is a playgroup for babies and children 0 – 4 years of age which meets every Wednesday in term-time at Horfield Baptist Church on Gloucester Road.
The Emmanuel Toddler Group offers toys appropriate for all ages and stages, including a slide, ride-on toys, dolls house, soft play area, play dough, jigsaws, books, cars and garage, dinosaurs, farm and sometimes even craft activities, too. Plus, there is delicious homemade cake; always a bonus!
And, unlike a lot of playgroups in and around Bishopston, the Emmanuel Toddler Group runs on a drop-in basis and there is not yet a waiting list.
The group is hosted by some really friendly parent volunteers. I like that many of the volunteers are not only parents, but parents to young children, too.
About twenty minutes into every session, the group sits down to enjoy some storytelling and singing with musical instruments for all of the children to join in with.
After the story and singing, on some weeks there are arty crafty activities for children to enjoy…
…and teas, coffees and the afore mentioned cake for mums to enjoy!
The session finishes with the Hokey Cokey which is, of course, always a huge hit with the children.
