Today on Bishopston Mum local parent, Katie Campbell, reviews Chatterbox Playgroup, a toddler group which is held at Horfield Baptist Church on Friday mornings in term-time.
We have been going to Chatterbox playgroup on a Friday morning in Brynland avenue church for nearly two years now and my littlies love it. It’s a traditional playgroup aimed at children aged 0-3yrs and runs from 10am – 12 noon. It’s perfect for mums, like me, with multiple children of different ages, as there are things to keep all entertained.
The set up changes each week to keep it interesting, but there’s always a play kitchen, dressing up clothes, reading corner, craft table, puzzle table, homemade play dough table, climbing equipment and slides and a soft baby area.
The staff are wonderful, very friendly and great with the kids. One of the best bits is the weekly craft activity, which is now quite famous in mummy circles! Heather always amazes me with her fun, educational and creative ideas and must spend all week preparing the handmade items.
At 11am a much needed cuppa and biccie (juice and biccie for kids) is served. And at 11.45am storytime and songs finish the session.
There is a waiting list to ensure it’s not too busy, which I appreciate as I find some local drop-in sessions a little bit nuts/unsafe for littlies. It’s definitely worth putting your name on the waiting list as they do try to reduce it regularly.
As a bonus the Church has an amazing child friendly cafe with yummy food and cakes. And again the staff are very accommodating considering how popular the cafe is.
All in all a perfect morning out all for the bargain price of £1.50 per child.
