There are several good events and activities for children and families on in Bishopston and surrounding areas this weekend!

Starting from this evening, there’s free family film screening of Minions at Bishop Road Community Cinema this evening, there are carol services, a celebration of the trees and Christmas decoration-making at nearby Badock’s Wood, a Christmas themed Messy Church and yummy Christmas lunch at Horfield Methodist Church and even more to keep you and your kids busy this weekend.

Messy Church: Horfield Methodist Church

A final, Christmas-themed, Messy Church of the year at Horfield Methodist Church. Children and families will learn about what happened on the first Christmas, and preparing to celebrate Jesus’ birthday by making some amazing things.

There will be making decorations and boxes, finding out what the Christingle is and cooking up some donkey dung! That will be followed by a short period of worship, to think about that very first Christmas, then a yummy Christmas lunch of roast turkey and all the trimmings!

Glow in the Dark Carol Service: Fairfield High School

Tree Dressing: Badock’s Wood

Celebrating the trees at Badock’s Wood as we approach the shortest day of the year. Make Winter pictures and decorations from natural materials and dress the trees with birds, leaves and wishes!

Puppets Extravaganza: Orchard School

A Christmas Puppets Extravaganza by Ebeneezer Church as featured in local primary schools in recent weeks. A few carols and a  full puppets performance of the Christmas story featuring the hugely popular camels and a short interactive talk.
