The Bishop Road School Parent, Teacher and Friends Association are currently trying to raise money to make their school a greener place to learn and play.

The PTFA have organised a Crowdfunder Campaign of which there is just 7 days left to improve the outdoor space of the school which is situated in an urban area surrounded by houses.

Their plans include completing a new Allotment Classroom, orchard and wildflower area, improving the Nature Area as well as buying gardening tools, seeds, plants and other resources for growing things and gardening; all of which would greatly benefit the children at Bishop Road School.

The PTFA have already began their work improving the school’s outside space.  So far they have planted seven trees in the school orchard and hope to plant further trees in Autumn including apple, pear and cherry tees which will hopefully create a beautiful sheltered area for children to have outdoor lessons and to play.

The PTFA have also cleared the Nature Garden and have built raised beds in the school’s Allotment Classroom.

Mr Kieboom, a Year 1 teacher and Environment Club Leader at Bishop Road School, has been instrumental in proceeding the improvement of the school’s outdoor space. He explains:

“These green spaces will be invaluable for teaching children the value and importance of nature. Hopefully it will inspire the next generation to preserve and protect our planet.”

But these are just small steps towards achieving their vision to make the school a greener place to learn and play.

The PTFA aim to raise £2,500 in their Crowdfunder Campaign and there are a variety of ways which the local community can pledge money towards meeting this amount in return for particular rewards.

In return for the following amounts of money pledged, people can receive the following:
