The brand new pond dipping platform at Horfield Common is now officially open and there are a multitude of bugs and beasties ready to be caught!

I took my children to the recent official opening of the pond dipping platform which had been organised by Sam Thomson and the Friends of Horfield Common.

The pond dipping platform has been designed and built by Steve England, local naturalist and conservationist. He explained that he had only recently visited Horfield Common and that he was amazed at the wildlife there, especially in and around the brook.

Here’s the moment that the ribbon was cut and the pond dipping platform officially opened!

The new platform is sturdy and we had a great time pond dipping.

And we had just as much fun learning about our catches with Steve!

The new pond dipping is perfect for some nature activities with children!
