Rumpus Children’s Choir: Building Friendships, Confidence, and a Love of Singing in Bishopston

Finding an after-school activity that children genuinely look forward to and that helps them develop new skills can be a challenge.

If you are looking for a creative, sociable and screen-free activity for your child, Rumpus Children’s Choir offers a welcoming environment where children can enjoy singing while growing in confidence.

Based in Bishopston, the choir combines high-quality music-making with a playful, welcoming atmosphere where children can thrive.

Led by experienced choir leader Ellie Rusbridge, co-lead of the Bristol Beacon Youth Choir, Rumpus uses imaginative musical games and engaging activities to help children develop their voices while having plenty of fun.

The relaxed approach encourages even the shyest singers to join in, while gradually helping every child reach an impressive musical standard.

Rumpus has already performed at some of Bristol’s most iconic venues, including the historic SS Great Britain and the beautiful St Mary Redcliffe Church, giving young singers memorable experiences and a real sense of achievement.

Families will have another chance to hear the choir this summer when Rumpus performs at The Ardagh Friday Food on the Green on Friday 17th July at 5.30pm on Kellaway Avenue (BS6 7YL). The community event is free to attend and offers a relaxed evening with a barbecue, plenty of space for children to play, and beautiful surroundings on the old bowling green—making it an ideal family outing.

Looking ahead to the new school year, Rumpus Children’s Choir is welcoming new members from September, with a small number of places available.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 3.50pm at 160a Gloucester Road, BS7 8NT (Baptist Church Hall) with school pick-up available from Bishop Road Primary School for added convenience.

For parents looking for an enriching after-school activity that nurtures musical skills, confidence and community spirit, Rumpus Children’s Choir offers a wonderful opportunity for children to find their voice.
