Parents Surprise Fairfield High School Staff with Heartfelt Thank You

Staff at Fairfield High School were surprised with a wonderful show of appreciation after parents organised a special fundraiser to celebrate National Thank a Teacher Day.

Led by a group of parent governors, the fundraising campaign raised enough money to buy five new microwaves for the staff room, along with a selection of treats and thoughtful cards to thank staff for everything they do for pupils and the wider school community.

The initiative was inspired by National Thank a Teacher Day, an annual celebration recognising teachers and support staff working across schools, colleges and early years settings.

Hanifa Tazaoui, Year 8 Achievement Coordinator at Fairfield High School, explained:

“Receiving these gifts from parents and carers is incredibly touching and genuinely appreciated. Working with young people is a privilege – their energy, curiosity and unique outlooks constantly inspire me and keep every day interesting. Education has its challenges, as anyone in the profession will understand, but moments like this remind us of the difference we can make and why we love what we do.”

The fundraiser was organised by Jessica Spedding, Parent Governor at Fairfield High School, who wanted to recognise the dedication of the school’s staff.

She said:

“We wanted to find a way to thank all those staff who work tirelessly educating and looking after our children. Thank a Teacher Day gave us the perfect opportunity to express our gratitude and offer them something they can appreciate for years to come.”

It’s a lovely example of a school community coming together to recognise the hard work and commitment of teachers and support staff, whose dedication helps make a difference to children’s lives every day.
