Fairfield High School students celebrate GCSE results

Students at Fairfield High School are celebrating their GCSE results, with the school reporting strong performances across a range of subjects and highlighting the resilience and hard work of its Year 11 students.

There was no attainment gap between boys and girls at grades 4+ and 7+ in English and Maths, while overall attainment at grades 5+ and 7+ also improved compared with previous years.

Results in Science, Humanities and Arts were either maintained or improved at grades 5+ and 7+. Sports Science students also performed particularly well in their Cambridge Nationals, with more than 85% achieving a Level 2 Pass or higher. One Fairfield student was also recognised by Cambridge OCR as being “one of the top performers in Child Development across the country.”

The school’s Year 10 Religious Education cohort also achieved some impressive results, with 36.6% achieving grades 7, 8 or 9.

Fairfield is particularly proud of students who have faced significant medical, social or emotional challenges during their secondary education. The school says its support for vulnerable and disadvantaged students has contributed to improvements in its headline measures.

Vice Principal Cashan Campbell said the school was proud of the achievements of these students, adding that the wider school community had worked together to support them to achieve their potential.

Principal Edel Cronin also praised the Year 11 cohort, saying: “We are immensely proud of our Year 11 students and all that they have achieved. Their attitude, dedication and commitment have been second to none.”

She added that the results reflected not only academic achievement, but also the resilience, determination and growth shown by students throughout their time at Fairfield.

Congratulations to all the Fairfield students on their results and best wishes for their next steps!
