Cake at Delmonico Restaurant’s New Cafe Bar

If you are a regular reader of Bishopston Mum, you will know that I have a bit of an obsession with cake. So I was very interested to hear that Delmonico, the wonderful restaurant at 217a Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol, has now also opened its doors as a Cafe Bar!

On our way to do some Gromit spotting one recent afternoon, my little boy and I popped in there for some refreshments.

My little boy always opts for a window seat so we sat watching Gloucester Road while enjoying our refreshments: apple juice for my boy, cloudy lemonade for me and a wedge of Lamington cake to share 🙂

Crayons and pictures to colour in were provided to occupy my boy…

Surely a trip to a nice cafe isn’t complete without your pre-schooler crawling around under your table?

It was also slightly embarrassing that my little boy kept shouting out ‘Dave!’ to attract the attention of the owner of Delmonico (the owner’s name is Nick).

Delmonico has a ‘substantial’ feel to it, with its gleaming cutlery, smart tables and interior decor. My little boy was particularly taken with the restaurant’s over sized clock. Delmonico’s cakes are baked daily on the premises and its coffee beans roasted in Bristol. There is also a very good coffee and cake deal: £3.50 for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

We had a great time at Delmonico. With our tummies filled with delicious cake we left suitably refreshed and ready to continue on our Gromit-spotting journey 🙂
